Cervical Screening update

Cervical screening is safe and essential. 99% of cervical cancers are preventable and cervical screening picks up very early changes, when it is easier to treat.

Cervical screening has restarted now that it is safe to do so. Please make sure you attend your appointment.

Essex Lodge Surgery is open for cervical screening and have introduced safety measures to protect patients and staff from Covid-19, including:

  • social distancing
  • additional PPE, such as masks, gloves and aprons, which will be changed between patients.
  • all patients have to wear a face covering (unless exempt)
  • any patient who has Covid-19 symptoms is asked not to attend their appointment and to contact their GP to rearrange

For more information about smear tests, there is a short video to explain the facts, as well as and Your Guide to Cervical screening.
